When it’s time to go, it’s time to go. It’s time to get rid of a few lost and found items. If they are yours, you better come by this week. They will disappear on Wednesday…
Shoes, Boot, Hats, Umbrella
This pair of tennis shoes and a single boot have been around WAY too long:
So have most of these hats and this umbrella that hooks to a chair:
Mystery Waters
You would think that I would have returned these water bottles to their owners. They all have names on them. One problem – there is no one at Hill with these names:
Indie – oh, I just found one in the directory. I will return that.
Harris – Drew Harris says it’s not his, and we have 2 Harrisons, but at least one goes by Harry. Hmmm…
Daniel Kim – Look at that great label! Can’t miss that! We do have some Kims in the directory. Could Daniel have a secret alter ego of Sunwoo, Jiwoo, or Youngwoo?
Olaf – I am not sure who this Olaf character is, but I hope he comes for his water bottle.
Did you lose a remote at carnival?
A small remote and a black bag for an electronic device of some sort were left behind after carnival. Anyone recognize them? Maybe for playing music at Animal Walk or Cake Walk?
The usual suspects:
The day has come! Thank you to all of you who participated in early voting over the last couple of weeks. Numbers were low so if you didn’t already vote, please make sure to vote tomorrow – Tuesday, November 7th. Hill Elementary along with Murchison Middle School and Anderson High School will be polling sites on Tuesday. Drop off your child at school and walk over and vote. It’s that easy!
*** Due to a change put into place this last legislative session, the AISD bond is actually titled “Proposition A” and is the last item on the ballot. ***
Each ballot will have items in this order: 1) Texas constitutional amendments (there are seven); 2) Travis County bonds (there are two); and 3) the AISD bond. Please read all the way to the end of your ballot to find the school bond.
Let’s make sure to get out there and have our voices heard! Every vote matters! Every vote counts!
Just as a reminder, the Hill PTA voted unanimously to support this bond. To see how Hill will be impacted should the bond pass, please click here!
Election Day is Nov. 7th. Polling locations are listed below:

Dear Hill Families,
Thank you for a smooth first nine weeks of school, filled with many academic and social/emotional learning opportunities. Our students are now beginning their second nine weeks of school, as we continue to support them in their academic studies. Our focus for SEL this month is compassion, showing care and concern for others. We will model strategies for showing compassion with students in the classroom and at Morning Assembly.
We have recently hired a Math Specialist, Emily George, who will work with 3rd-5th graders needing math support at Hill. Ms. George comes to Hill from Cook Elementary in AISD, where she was a classroom teacher for several years. She also has experience as a math and reading interventionist in Round Rock ISD. We are so pleased to have Ms. George join our team at Hill!
It is with great sadness I share with families that Hill Childcare Worker and lunch monitor, Roya Jamshidi has resigned from AISD. We appreciate her service to the students and staff of Hill School. We are currently in the process of filling this position.
I also would like to let you know of a transition in staff in our Health Room. As you may know, AISD and Seton Healthcare recently committed to staffing large elementary school health rooms with full time RN coverage. Dianna Pierson will begin as our full-time RN at Hill on Monday, November 6. She comes to us with several years of nursing experience in Houston ISD. We welcome Ms. Pierson to Hill School! We also want to appreciate our RNs Donna Cardone and Glenda Simmons, as well as SHA Rachel Durrett for their service to Hill School, and wish them well in their future positions!
We had a wonderful Professional Development Day on October 23, where staff participated in teacher led learning sessions on everything from math and literacy instruction to mindfulness and classroom management. We are looking forward to our professional development days on January 2 and 3, where we will participate in Creative Learning Initiative learning, as well as an Anderson Vertical Team professional development day. January 2 and 3 will be student holidays, with students returning to class on January 4.
Have a great week and we will see you in the halls!!

Parents,
Recently, our office has been inundated with outside delivery businesses, such as UBER eats, delivering lunch to some Hill students. We ask that Hill parents please refrain from using these services, as it is not safe nor appropriate at the elementary level. We have more than 950 students at Hill school, and cannot have outside vendors coming into our school to deliver students lunch. We appreciate your understanding.
