Mrs. Stephanie Perry:  28 years of teaching experience, 19 of which have been at Hill.  She teaches one 1st- and 2nd-grade class, most of the 3rd graders, and all of the 4th and 5th graders. She loves to talk about creative ideas, art projects, art museums, artists and also stays busy with art projects in her home art studio.


Mr. Stephen Williams:  This is Mr. Williams’ fifth year teaching art at Hill. He teaches all of Kindergarten, most of the 1st and 2nd graders, and one 3rd grade class. He earned a BFA in Studio Art from UT Austin and has worked in several art-related fields. He currently enjoys painting and photography and is especially inspired by nature.


Mrs. Michelle Herb:  This is Mrs. Herb’s 10th year of teaching. She teaches one 1st- and 2nd-grade class, most of the 3rd graders, and all of the 4th and 5th graders. Her main instrument is the French Horn, however, she also loves to practice piano, guitar, and ukelele.  She received a Bachelors in Music Education degree from Baylor University, a Masters in Horn Performance from TCU, and has taken four levels of Kodaly training.  During the next two years, she will be working on National Board Certification.


Maestro Steve Williams: Maestro Williams has been teaching for 20 years, and has been a lifelong singer and musician.  This his sixth year as a Dillo and his second year loving music with kindergarten, first and second graders!  Maestro is currently mastering the Kodaly method, practicing piano, and brushing up on the French Horn, which he played all the way through school.



Mr. Roger Taveirne (“Mr. T”):  More than 20 years of teaching experience.  He graduated from The University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.


Mr. Jason Schafer: Coach Schafer has been teaching elementary PE for 10 years in Texas, Washington, and Colorado. He loves to be outside and active! He plays various sports whenever he can, but right now loves playing disc golf! Coach Schafer is the school leaders for Coordinated School Health and hopes that Hill Elementary can be the best example for the entire city of Austin!


Be cool for school and ride the Walking School Bus!  Meet Mr. T and Coach Schaffer in the parking lot at Hillcrest Baptist Church. At 7:10 am, students begin exercises and do WOW (Working Out for Wellness) activities before walking with the coaches to Hill at 7:28 am.



Mrs. Celeste Pustka:  More than 20 years experience,  first as a Kindergarten teacher and now as a Librarian.

Mrs. Terri Banda:  Hill’s part-time librarian. She also has previous teaching experience.

7:45 am – 2:45 pm – Open for student checkout

2:45 pm – 3:30 pm – Open for students, with parents only

Note: The library is closed on Thursdays for faculty meetings.
