Volunteers Needed: HopeAustin Meals

Thanks to HopeAustin, Hill Elementary receives meals every week for Dillos who need nutritious food over the weekend.  The meals are brought to Hill, and we need your help getting them delivered to classrooms before the school day begins on Friday (and sometimes Thursday) mornings.  We would love for you to bring your kids along to help with the deliveries!  Thank you for volunteering in this meaningful way.  CLICK HERE to sign up, and please reach out to Liz Neff at lizgreyneff@gmail.com with any questions.

We want to remind everyone that there is no school tomorrow (Monday, 9/5) as we observe the Labor Day holiday. As we return on Tuesday for school, the Uvalde Consolidated ISD will begin their classes as well. To show support, schools and districts around Texas are organizing to wear their school colors of Maroon and White on Tuesday. We encourage anyone interested to take part.

Reminder of a Volunteer Opportunity: We want to thank the volunteers who have been supporting our youngest students at PE each day during the outdoor rotation. Math Pentathlon: PreRegister and Volunteer

Math Pentathlon is a parent-led, math-games club for students to learn and play age-appropriate strategy games.  The games are designed for students of all math abilities in 1st-5th grades.  Club meetings will be held Wednesdays after school until 4pm, starting in early October and running through late January.  After January, students who do not wish to participate in the inter-school tournaments (usually held in April) drop, and the focus of the meetings will move to tournament preparation.

Student capacity for each grade level will be determined by the number of parent volunteers, so signing up sooner will help us plan better.  CLICK HERE FOR THE PRE-REGISTRATION FORM.  The deadline for applying for pre-registration is September 16th.  Visit www.hillelementary.com/math-pentathlon or email Braxton Thomason, MP Chair, at mathpentathlon@hillelementary.com for more information.  We are looking for parent volunteers to help coach, too!  We’d love to have you!

Show Your Voice 2022

Hill Dillos!  Do you love showcasing your creativity?  Has your family joined the PTA?  If so, then you can be a part of the PTA Art Reflections contest!  The theme for this year’s program is “Show Your Voice!“

For 50 years, the National PTA’s Reflections program has helped millions of students explore their feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence, and find a love for learning.

Take some time to reflect and look within yourself, nature, your community, Hill Elementary…or whatever and whomever sparks your creativity.  Students can submit artwork in any or all of these categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts.  CLICK HERE to check out the National PTA’s website that has lots of details and examples

More information coming soon, but put on your creative thinking caps Dillos!  Families, email Reflection Co-Chairs Erica Martindale and Denise Kleinman at reflections@hillelementary.com for more information.
