Mon – Graduating Senior Walk

Attention Graduating Seniors! The Graduation Walk for Former Dillos is Monday, May 20th. On May 20th, we will have former Dillo graduating seniors return to Hill for a graduation walk of their own that will begin at 7:45 am. If you have or know an interested senior, they can wear their cap/gown or a college shirt and begin gathering in our Hill library at 7:30 am. We will also announce the winners of the Suzanne and Vincent Torres Hill Elementary Alumni Scholarship following the walk. We look forward to celebrating the graduating class of 2024!

Tues – Kona Ice Trucks

This Tuesday, May 21st, be sure to get yourself a sweet treat to battle this summer-like heat. Two trucks will be in front of school at dismissal. With every purchase, you’ll not only cool off, but you’ll BE cool since 15% goes back to PTA (to help fund all kinds of, you guessed it, coooool things for the kiddos).

Dillo Cheer – Melanie Petersen

We don’t know for sure but if we had to guess Melanie Petersen’s middle name it would start with V, because she is the MVP of PTA. As our fearless President she has lead us through the 2023-24 school year with grace, patience, and heart. If there was ever a frazzled nerve you’d never know it (despite what this photo suggests ;)). Holding this post is a commitment and labor of love. From your fellow PTA board/members, Hill staff, and all parents, thank you for everything!

5th Grade Legacy Gift

A huge Dillo Cheer to the class of 2031! Thank you 5th graders for the new 4-square court and basketball goal — their legacy gift to Hill. These new additions to the playground are sure to bring fun and smiles for years to come as they begin the next chapter of their lives.

Medication Pickup

If your child has medications in the health office, please come and pick them up on the last day of school, Thursday May 23rd, 2023. All medications, with the exception of asthma inhalers must be picked up by an adult. Inhalers will be sent home with the child on the last day of school, unless arranged otherwise between parent and Student Health Services. Any Medication left after May 23rd will be disposed of.

Note that Doctor’s orders and AISD medication paperwork must be updated every school year. Please check back with the school nurse 2 weeks prior to the first day of school if your child requires medication on campus for the ’24-25 school year.

Thank You Diamond Sponsor – Sherwood Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Sherwood was born in Panhandle, TX, where his upbringing in a small town provided diverse opportunities in sports, music, and livestock raising at the Carson County Stock Show.

His undergraduate years at the University of Texas at Austin marked the beginning of lasting friendships and was where he met Krista, his future wife. Attending dental school in San Antonio at the University of Texas Health Science Center, he discovered his passion for Pediatric Dentistry. Not too far later, he earned his DDS degree with Cum Laude honors in 1996, followed by a post-doctoral residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

Board-certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Sherwood has been practicing in Austin since 1998. His dedication extends to caring for children with special needs, drawing from his personal experience as the father of a child with cerebral palsy. Dr. Sherwood, along with his wife Krista, has served tirelessly in assisting children facing severe disabilities. The couple, proud parents to Grant, Gabby, Garrett, and Gregory, is actively involved in Grace Covenant Church.

Outside his dental practice, Dr. Sherwood enjoys culinary pursuits, exercise, family movie nights, and playing fetch with Daisy, their beloved Golden Retriever.
