The new mascot of Lost and Found, DogBear, wanted to warn you that you have just 13 DAYS LEFT to rescue your items from Lost and Found.

You are going to want those jackets (and hats and socks and bungee cables) this summer, so come by TODAY to pick them up! Don’t wait until the last minute. Things tend to wander off.
If you are missing a skirt or pants, I WILL NOT JUDGE YOU. We’ve all been there. Just come on by and pick them up.

I am pretty sure these COFFEE CUPS belong to parents or teachers, so before you give your kids a hard time, come and check Lost and Found for your own things.

Please look at these pics for familiar jackets, but keep in mind there are about 100 MORE on the racks right now. One probably belongs to your child.

IMPORTANT: In case you want to stock up on jackets for next year, at 3:00 pm on the last day of school (May 30), parents can come by and take up to 5 items from lost and found. At 3:15 pm, all remaining items will be bagged up and donated to charity.

In the past year we have participated in camp-outs, fishing, swimming, archery, night hikes, pinewood derby races, live bird demonstrations, marshmallow cook-offs, overnight stays aboard the USS Lexington, outdoor cooking, visiting the Houston Space Center, and much more.

Dear Hill Community,

We are in the midst of planning for the 2018-2019 school year. I wanted to update you on some staffing changes for the upcoming school year.
Melanie Brown, current 3rd grade teacher, will be moving to teach 4th grade.
Bess Wirht, current 4th grade teacher, will be moving to teach 5th grade.
Kellie Allen, Hill Bookkeeper, is leaving Hill School to become the Bookkeeper at Anderson High School. Anderson is so lucky to have her! Ms. Allen’s last day at Hill will be June 15, 2018. We appreciate Kellie’s eight years of service to Hill School and will miss her very much! Ms. Allen has been an amazing bookkeeper and supportive advocate to our students, staff and parent community.
Lisa Loflin, Hill Clerk, is retiring from Hill School after sixteen years of service. Lisa is always such a breath of fresh air, welcoming everyone with kindness and humor! She is a joy to work with and be around. We wish her luck in retirement and many happy days ahead!
Enjoy this wet weekend! See you in the halls soon!

Teacher Appreciation Week will be celebrated next week, from May 7-11. This is the time we show our teachers and staff how thankful we are for taking care of our children and making school a safe and creative environment for learning. In addition to our teachers, each class will be showing appreciation to one of these important areas: essentials (ie. PE, Music and Art), office staff, cafeteria & custodial staff. If your child visits one of our wonderful math or reading specialist, please show your appreciation to them as well. Click here to see the Teacher Appreciation Week schedule and class assignments. Please watch your email for specific information from your Homeroom Parents regarding how each day will be celebrated by your class next week. Questions? Contact volunteercoordinator@hillelementary.com.
Do you know what your child’s teacher’s favorites are? If not, check out your teacher’s favorites list in the red binder located in the office. The binder is on the table across from the check in table. It’s going to be a great week of loving on our teachers. We have some of the best in town!
Congratulations to Maitri Shah who was recognized as a National Board Certified Teacher at AISD’s school board meeting this past week!!
Congratulation to our 2 wonderful Volunteers of the Year, Kim Franks and Garth Faigley!! Thank you for your dedication and support! Well deserved! Dillo Cheer!!

Nurse Appreciation Day – May 9th
We have the best school nurse! Please stop by and tell Ms. Pierson how much you appreciate all that she does each day for our Hill Dillos. We have her favorite things listed in the red Staff Favorites Binder in the front office. Check it out and shower her with appreciation!
Please join us for our last PTA meeting of the school year. Our guest speaker will be Leesa Ross with BeSMART. She will talk with us about gun safety. We hope to see you there.
