Updated Quarantine Q and A Review

Q: My child was in close contact with someone positive for Covid. Does my child have to quarantine?

A: Unvaccinated/partially vaccinated students in close contact with a positive Covid case have 3 options.

  • Remain at school and test on day 5. Negative results, continue at school. Positive results, quarantine for 10 days.
  • Quarantine for 4 days and return to school on day 5 with documented negative rapid or PCR test result.
  • Quarantine for 10 days and return to school on day 11.

Q: Where can my child get a free Covid rapid test?

A: AISD has launched 11 testing hubs, and the site closest to our school is Pillow Elementary. Testing is available M-F, from 8am to 2pm. Complete the online consent form on the district website.

Q: My child received the Covid vaccine and has some symptoms. Does my child have to quarantine?

A: Students may display flu-like symptoms (fever, fatigue, headache, chills, muscle or joint pain) for up to 72 hours after receiving a COVID vaccine. Students should stay home if, and while, they have symptoms. If a student displays symptoms after 72 hours from receiving a COVID vaccine, or is experiencing symptoms that wouldn’t be a result of the vaccine (e.g. cough, congestion, etc.), they will be required to isolate for 10 days.
