Letter from Principal Newton

Dear Hill Families,

Kalimera, Hill Dillos! This is the traditional greeting in Greece, meaning “good day” which I learned on my trip to Greece this summer. My husband and I had a wonderful time exploring Greek culture with the Anderson Latin Club students. My family also enjoyed spending time together and traveling to the beach in Port Aransas. I’ve managed to read a handful of books and attended Instructurecon in Colorado with campus and district staff, to learn about blended classroom instruction. It’s been a busy summer, but we are looking forward to the school year ahead. We can’t wait to hear about your summer adventures when we are back together in a few weeks!

If you have been by the Hill Campus, you have probably seen our new grass field!! We used campus funds to plant new grass in our dirt field, and know that the students will be so happy to get to play in the grass this Fall! We appreciate our office staff and Dillo Dads, who have kept it in good condition all summer!

We are excited to welcome several new staff members to Hill this year!

In first grade, we welcome Rebecca Stanley, who comes to Hill from North Carolina Schools. Ms. Stanley replaces Addie Edwards, who accepted a Counselor position in Eanes ISD. We appreciate Ms. Edwards’ service to the Hill community.

In third grade, we welcome Clayton Oden, who comes to Hill from McBee Elementary in AISD. We also welcome Anna Peterson, who was previously teaching in Leander ISD.

In fourth grade, we welcome Katelyn Houchin, who comes to Hill from Lake Travis ISD. We also welcome Whitney Wallace, who was previously teaching in Del Valle ISD.

In Special Education, we welcome Melissa Butler, who comes to Hill from Blazier Elementary in AISD.

We welcome Lucy Chu as our new part time office clerk.

Over the summer, our custodians, Rey Munoz and Tri Tat, accepted jobs in other school districts. We appreciate their service to the Hill community. We have recently hired Miladys Ramirez Castellano as one of our custodians, who comes to Hill from Eastside High School in AISD. We are still hiring another custodian, as well as a teacher’s assistant.

Also, our Counselor, Stephanie Winfrey will continue on maternity leave until late September, and Jan Phillips will be her long-term substitute until she returns!

We are busy planning for your child’s return in August. I’m looking forward to sharing the many adventures we’ve had with Blue over the summer!

Dillo Cheer!
