Happening Now: Orpheus Contest

Orpheus Academy of Music 20th-Anniversary Poetry Contest.  “Making Music with Friends” or “Making Music to Change the World.”  Orpheus Academy of Music invites students ages 6–11 to submit poems about either making music with friends or making music to change the world.  The winning poem will be used as part of an original composition to be performed live at the historic Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.!

Rules:
1. Poems should be 3-4 stanzas in length and approximately 100 words (length will not be a factor in picking a winner).
2. Poems will be judged on the following criteria: a) Expressing the theme of making music with friends or making music to change the world, b) Originality.
3. Orpheus Academy of Music will have the right to publish and publicly share all poems (though the identities of the author will not be shared without the written permission of the parent).
4. Poems must be SUBMITTED HERE by November 1st, 2022.

Grand Prize:
1. $500!
2. Your poem will be featured in Orpheus Academy’s 20th-Anniversary Anthem, to be composed by Dr. Ruth Meyer Sacks.

Additional Prizes:
1. 1 month of free music lessons at Orpheus Academy.
2. Your very own ukulele.
3. 3 months free rental of a guitar, piano, violin, or cello.
