From Principal Drummond

Dear Hill Community,

We want to begin by thanking all of our Hill community that voted in the Tuesday elections. All three AISD bonds passed! Hill will certainly feel the impact of this in a positive way. We will share more in the future as we learn more.

We have five days left until our fall break! Please be mindful that there will be no school November 21-25.

Reminder: We want to invite our Hill parents/guardians to our Human Sexuality and Responsibility Family Orientation taking place tomorrow, November 14th at 4:00 pm in our Hill Library. We will review all needed information and answer questions you may have about our HSR curriculum this year. Information was sent through email with an opt-in form by teacher if you wish for your student(s) to receive the lessons this December. That information is included again with each teacher’s link below the body of this letter.

We want to update our families on a staffing change that will take place at the end of November. Stephen Williams the art teacher will be leaving Hill and moving to a new position with his wife at Grand Canyon National Park. We wish him well on his new adventure. We have a plan for a long-term sub to fill in until we can announce a new art teacher.

A call for donations if interested: Hill administration is looking for fun items you may have to donate we can then raffle off or use as prizes for our staff! Giftcards, gift baskets, relaxation items, packaged food items, etc. There is no rule for it! We hope to utilize them to add some fun during a busy time of year. No pressure but turn in any donation to Mr. Drummond if interested in helping! We appreciate all the support you show our staff each day.

We want to celebrate being named a Green School Park this year! Dillo Cheer to all of our staff and volunteers who improve our grounds year to year. Our campus is not only beautiful but also an amazing place for outdoor learning.

Have a great week, Dillos!

Dear Hill Families,

In keeping with Austin ISD Board Policy EHAA, the Human Sexuality and Responsibility (HSR) curriculum will be taught this fall during your child’s science class.  This curriculum has been established to provide information and skill development for students so that they may reach their highest potential for physical, emotional, mental, and social health.

If you haven’t done so already, we invite you to preview the curriculum online at https://www.austinisd.org/pe-health/health-education/hsr (under the K-HS Lessons button). As the primary educator in your child’s life, AISD believes that you are the most important source of information regarding human sexuality. The HSR curriculum is intended to support what students are learning at home, respecting your individual family values and teaching students to respect the family values of others that may differ from their own.

You have the right to decide if your child participates in these lessons. If you choose for your child to not participate in one or more of these lessons, there will be alternative lessons, focused on social and emotional learning skills, provided in a different location.

Below are the forms where families can opt-in for their student(s) to participate in all lessons or specific lessons. Please complete only the form that is specific to your child’s homeroom teacher by November 18th.

All information regarding the HSR policy, grade level lesson overviews, family resources, and more can be found on the HSR website: https://www.austinisd.org/pe-health/health-education/hsr. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher or campus principal.

NOTE: If the form for your child’s teacher and grade level is not completed, your child will not be able to participate in any of the lessons.
