From Mr. Drummond

Dear Hill Community,

Hill School is closed this week for Spring Break! We look forward to seeing everyone back on campus for learning Monday, March 18th. If your family is in need of support with meals over the break, please look at the resources shared below this letter.

The Hill Hoopla Fundraiser is around the corner! We always look forward to this fun event that does so much for our PTA and school.Ā You can click here for all the information you need right now.Ā Be sure to mark your calendars for April 5th! More information to come.

Another upcoming event is our annual Hill Heritage Fashion Parade on the morning of Thursday, March 28th right after assembly. Students may dress up in cultural attire and/or wave flags during the parade. Participation is optional but encouraged. We would love to see our Dillos participate! This is part of International Reading Week that will also take place.

The week after Spring Break is Childcare Worker Appreciation Week. Let’s give a big Dillo Cheer to the Hill 3rd Base program and the amazing staff. Be sure to show your appreciation at pick-up!

AISD Pride Week is March 18-22. You can click on thisĀ Hill Pride Week Parent Communication LetterĀ for more information. Please let Principal Drummond know if you have any questions.

Have an awesome Spring Break!

Principal Drummond

With many Austin ISD students living in food insecure households, access to healthy food may be challenging when the district is closed.Ā  Families can use the community resources below to find free meals in their area while Austin ISD offices and schools are closed for Spring Break:

Garden Water Fairies Needed!

If you have a minute to spare during the break we could use your help. We are looking for volunteers to come by each morning and water the plants in the garden so everything can stay nice and green. Sign-up HERE. Thank you!!

Also, if you missed our post on Instagram and Facebook head on over for updates on the garden as well as an easy kid-friendly salsa recipe (inspired by Ms. Combs’ class project).

Spring Break Bingo

If you are looking for an activity for your kiddos during the break, or something to fill their downtime, try Bingo! We’ve made two cards that you can download and print. No printer? No problem! Your local public library makes it easy. Head to their printer center and print out what you need.

There are two options. One is more general, perfect for the littles. The other is all about reading — great for older kids and bookworms. They’re available in both English and Spanish. Pick your flavor and have a great break!

P.S. Links to reading lists provided below. The library is fantastic and has picks per reading level. Check it out… and check them out ;).
