Hill’s Country Carnival is back on Friday, March 4th! Come celebrate the extra day off with an evening under the stars filled with all your Carnival favorites and some new additions. That’s right, pedestal joust, rock wall, football toss, and soda toss are back! We’ll also have double the petting zoo for less wait time and more cuddly goat time.

YES! The famous HILL HAUNTED HOUSE is back and better than ever. Tell your friends. The 5th graders have been hard at work to make it the best Haunted House yet.

New this year – we’ll have local food trucks in our “Carnival Food Truck Park.” Enjoy local favorites Tinney’s BBQ, Burger 5280, Taco Baby, Fancy Fluff, Cold Cookie Co, and more!

Yep, the rumors are true. There will be live armadillo racing and photo opps throughout Carnival so make sure you don’t miss out on this dillo-rific opportunity. Purchase your wristbands today before prices increase on Feb 28th!

How can I help?

Donate regular size Pringles cans, 17oz soda bottles starting Feb 15th. And kids don’t care about brands…we’ll take the store brand. Please leave in the Carnival donation boxes near the school’s front doors. Don’t have time to run to the store? Click here to donate and we’ll do the shopping. These are very popular booths…thank you for your donation!

Sign up for a volunteer slot at your class’s booth. It takes the whole school to make this event special. Shifts are short and you’ll always have someone working with you at your booth.  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080D4EAFA82FA4FE3-hill

Get Ready to Hoopla! Plan Your Buy-In Party and Save the Date!

DILLO! DILLO! ATX!  Buy-In Parties.

This might be the most fun way to support Hill Elementary! WHAT’S A BUY-IN PARTY? It’s a party hosted/donated by Hill parents. On the night of Hoopla, attendees will have a chance to buy a ticket to your party, and all money earned goes straight back to Hill. These tickets go fast and the parties are so much fun. You won’t want to miss out on your opportunity to give back by hosting a party with your friends and fellow parents. Here are some ideas:

  • parties for children by grade level (Ex: “Incoming 4th Grade Co-Ed Pool Party” or “Incoming 2nd Grade Sports Party”)
  • parties for adults by the grade level of their children (Ex: “Incoming 3rd Grade Moms Happy Hour”)
  • parties for children and adults by grade level (Ex: “Incoming 5th Grade Father-Son Kickball Game”)
  • parties open to all adults (Ex: “Dads Poker Tourney” or “Couples Wine Dinner”)

An individual, couple, or even a group of friends can host. Veteran hosts, we need you back and we’re excited to hear your plans! There are no limits on guest counts this year. Newcomers, please don’t be shy! Reach out to Vanessa Allgood, Buy-In Party Chair, at vanessa.allgood@gmail.com with any questions. She’s excited to help coordinate these parties and support our community! When you get the details of your party set, please let her know by filling out this GOOGLE FORM.

Book Fair is Finally Here! Volunteer Thursday or Friday! Volunteer and Shop Next Week!

The Book Fair is just around the corner and we need all the help we can get!

Please come by TOMORROW OR FRIDAY, during school hours on January 27th and January 28th, to help decorate the library in our BOOKS BRING US TOGETHER theme and set up the fair.  Bring a friend and have even more fun!  We also need cashiers for the fair and during family night.

From January 24th – 28th, Hill is raising money for the library of our sister school, Graham Elementary.  Students can bring cash, coins or checks made out to Hill PTA and drop them in the Pringles can in their classroom.  The class that raises the most money gets a popcorn party AND selects the books that go to Graham!  There will be two winners this year, one class from K-2 and one class from 3-5.

Save the date for Family Night:  Friday, February 4th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.  This will be the last chance to shop at the fair.

E-Wallet is back again this year!  Sign up at our fair homepage http://www.scholastic.com/bf/hilldillos to create an account for your child.  E-Wallet allows your student to shop the fair without keeping track of cash.

Thank you and see you soon!

Nurse Pierson’s Last Day is Friday

Our outstanding school nurse, Ms. Pierson, will sadly be leaving Hill Elementary on Friday, December 3. She has been working on her Master of Public Health degree and has an incredible opportunity to be a Public Health Nurse with the CDC Foundation. Another RN will be in the health room until a permanent replacement is hired. Nurse Pierson has been an essential part of Hill Elementary and worked so hard to help our students stay healthy over the past four years. We will miss her! If you would like to send a note of congratulations or thanks for her hard work at Hill, please send it with your child or drop it off with the office by this Friday, December 3rd.
