2018 Flood Safety Poster Contest

Central Texas School Children Grades 1-8 and your teachers, family and friends!

Austin’s 2018 annual Flood Safety Poster Contest is now open for your creative expressions! Help Austin be safer with this important message:

Save Yourself! Turn Around – Don’t Drown.

The 2018 poster contest is a fun way for children to build flood safety awareness and help Central Texans to make safer decisions in flooding conditions. The main message of your posters is to turn around, rather than drive through a flooded low water crossing.

Flooding is Austin’s top, weather-related emergency and the number-one cause of weather-related fatalities. Austin is in the heart of Flash Flood Alley and flash flooding can happen at any time. Flood safety awareness is one way to better protect drivers, passengers and emergency responders from flash flooding risks.

Arrival and dismissal reminders!

As we begin the Spring Semester, it is a good time to give parents some general reminders about arrival/dismissal procedures.

Remember that the tardy bell rings at 7:45 am each morning.  If your child arrives after the tardy bell rings, please park and accompany your child into the school office to get a tardy slip.

Students school not walk into school late unaccompanied by an adult.

When driving around Hill School please remember to SLOW down and follow all traffic rules/laws.  We have over 960 students at Hill and we want to keep every student safe.  If you need to come pick your child up during the school day, please park your car in designated parking, not in the front driveway.  This is a fire zone and AISD PD may ticket your car.
