Dear Hill Community,

There are 10 days left in the 21-22 school year! We had a blast on Friday with our Dillo Dash Color Run and Health Fair. Thank you to Robyn Eckermann, Coach Monreal, Coach Shaw, and our volunteers who made it an excellent event. We have more fun in store as we complete a successful school year.

This Thursday is our last PTA General Meeting at 7:45 am in our Hill Cafeteria. We will also be sharing more information on master scheduling for next year as we introduce PE every day for our Kinder-5th grade students. We look forward to seeing our interested PTA members there!

AISD is having conversations around Long-Range Planning (LPR), and are looking for opportunities to connect with the Anderson Vertical Team Community. Long-Range Planning is a comprehensive process that will help prepare the district for the future, with an emphasis on how facilities support academic programs and other needs of students, staff, and the community. The process will ultimately help determine which improvements and new facilities are included in our next bond. They’ve done some preliminary data analysis and identified many school communities as historically underserved in terms of student demographics, neighborhood vulnerability, and facility conditions. In keeping with the Equity by Design model, it is important that they hear from our school community early in the planning process. The meeting will be Tuesday, May 17th in the Anderson HS cafeteria at 5:45 pm. For those who came to our Hill-specific meeting a few weeks ago on long-range planning, the information and format should be similar.

If you drop off at the front door, you may have noticed that we have a good samaritan collecting recorders (the musical instrument) to repurpose charitably. If you happen to have extra recorders you would like to give to a good cause and aren’t going to be used, we encourage you to put them in the drop box labeled by our front door. You can donate through this upcoming week!

We wanted to end by celebrating the thoughtful gift our 5th grade class has left behind for Hill School. You can see the 5th grade mural legacy gift here that adds a special touch to our new playground. A huge Dillo Cheer to Leigh Watson of Watson Murals and our volunteer parent committee who made this possible. It was signed on the back by our outgoing 5th grade class, making it even more special. Have an excellent weekend, Hill community!
