A Quick Update on Staff Learning and Dillo Cheer for Ms. Salome!

As the Hill staff prepares for an unconventional fall, teachers are participating in all types of learning to meet the needs of our students. We thought it would be fun to update you on a few of the highlights.
We want to begin by giving a huge Dillo Cheer to Lorrie Salome, who has organized a weekly tech meetup available to Hill staff. Topics include BLEND, the Google Suite, Flipgrid, and other tools that fit the needs of our teachers. We have a wealth of knowledge on campus that is now being shared across the school, which is such a powerful thing! Hill School has a lot of talent.
Our staff book study on “How to be an Antiracist” by Ibram X. Kendi is under way as well, where we will be utilizing our first break-out groups in Zoom to have critical conversations with those participating. We are also thankful to have an expert Cultural Proficiency and Inclusion department in AISD that is offering other cohorts and learning various staff are participating in. This included the recent Austin ISD Equity Summit we were happy to have Hill community participation in!
We have a lot of work to do in order to prepare for the new school year. Thank you to all of our staff who are utilizing their time off to learn and instruct in order for our students to be supported! You are appreciated.
